What
does the Quiksilver Crossing mean
to you?
Exploring
around the world, waves, people
and taking in everything. The
people who run it and surf aboard
are real professionals. Once in a
lifetime experience for myself to
be on board.

All right finally got on the boat.
Doesn't get much better than this. Its
pretty much as good as it gets. Unreal
boat, best captain on board and insane
crew ready to go at any time. Left home
with no expectations. Got as drunk I
could on the way to the airport to avoid
Timmy syndrome. Worked insane, till I
woke up on the plane landing in El
Salvador. |
Second I woke up I was like what the
fuck am I doing in this plane. Calmed
myself down and had a good time with the
crew. Waited for more of the crew to
show up. They were late so we took off.
Did the drive to the boat, it was
insane, and I never thought that I would
ever come to a place like this. It was
unreal seeing the country. When I got
the phone call I had never heard or knew
where Nicaragua was on a map. It was a
dream come true, while I was working my
ass off at my mum's restaurant and I got
the call from Jim Kempton saying we will
be leaving tonight. I was so over work
and once I got the call I had a huge
smile on my face.

First full day on the boat. Threw up a
couple of times today, not sure of the
reasons why, could have been from the
headache, beers or just seasickness.
Whatever the reason I feel 100% now.
It's an honour to be on this boat, the
crew is insane.
Carlos (from Nicaragua) says it's a 90%
chance of offshore winds here and we
happen to get the 10% chance of wrong
winds. Surfed for about 20 minutes. It
was unreal jumping in the water with
trunks on. The wave was good but surfing
with Carroll, Morcom, Strider and Jimmy
was amazing can't wait to surf all day
with the crew. Been motoring most of the
day. The crew caught five Mackerels
today.

Yesterday, first full day of surfing
under the Nicaragua sun. Not too
sunburnt. I experienced and saw what
this boat does. The Crossing did this
thing yesterday interacting with
culture. After the long session sitting
on board, a boat of local fishermen
pulled up. They were so stoked to talk
to us and they had fresh lobster on
board that they had caught. It was
amazing bargaining a price with them for
all their lobster. Ben is an amazing
chef, yesterdays lobster had Hollander
sauce and the potatoes were off the
hook. A young local surfer hopped on
board today and left head to toe with
clothes and a surfboard. Instead of him
trying to stay dry when Martin offered
him a ride back to the beach, he just
jumped into the ocean and got all his
new gear wet.
What a day, the waves were going off. We
surfed a real wave. Being out there with
a group of guys like that was a dream.
Last night after dinner it felt as if
this was all a dream. Why me I would ask
myself. This whole trip happened so fast
that I didn't know if it was a dream or
not. |

The people of Nicaragua or should I say
the reef break people are going to wake
up and surf by themselves. If only I
could of said what I wanted to say. The
day started off this morning to a normal
day of waking up on the boat. Looked at
the surf and it looked like yesterday
but smaller. It was going off, perfect
waves…what a dream. Unbelievable day,
I say this because of the fact of being
in a place you never thought you could
go, riding a new wave that you end up
liking and want more.This
trip has been insane, the people
are unbelievable. Quiksilver is so
far off the game it's insane.
Professionals working with
professionals. I can't believe I'm
here on the Crossing.
Don't you hate it when you can't
sleep? Your brain goes a 100 miles
and hour and you wish it didn't
get dark. Before dark tonight we
had surfed a break in front of a
pink house, it was fun to surf
another spot.

We are out of here right now. What a
trip, already missing this place.
Walking on the beach was insane, the
coolest town ever. Out of here…thanks
so much! |
