14th Feb - Day 1
Amy Patrick, Lisa Andersen, Mike Prickett, Megan Abubo and me.

We arrived last night after probably the longest flight I've ever done!!!
Josh (local) meet us at the airport and unlucky for me, no bags!!!
They were still sitting in Frankfurt airport!! It was okay though, Amee had 3 brand spanking Al Merricks for me. So, my board bag would be arriving tomorrow and they were still tracking down my clothes bag. We left the airport and headed for the hotel.
Holly Dust Bowl Batman!!!! Not a tree insight. The island was a bit dried out. It was kinda like a desert.
So we arrived at our hotel and after about half an hour we were checked in. We put our bags in our rooms and headed to the restaurant for apps and drinks. (It had been a long day). I passed up a good beer as I had a bit of an itch in my throat. We ate beautiful fish and retired to bed.

Day 2 - 15th Feb

The boat was still quite far away so Josh picked us up from the hotel and drove us around to look for waves. The morning was passing and I was feeling worse and worse! (Dizziness and cough attacks setting in). We pulled up to a little spot along the way and found VK, Sofi, Horny and Nick hanging out by a surf break that wasn't quite doing it. Hugs and kisses went round and we set off for another surf spot. We found a tiny wave that looked good enough so we suited up and headed out. (I was hoping the surf might clear my head up…..it didn't happen) everyone caught some fun waves; it was just good to be with all the girls surfing.

The water was unexpectedly cold so we weren't out there for long. On the way Josh took us to a wharf by this beautiful beach that had crystal blue water and locals pulling in fish. It was pretty crazy. There was a lot going on. Guys cutting up fish on the deck, while other guys were throwing more up to them. It was cool to watch, but the smell got the better of us. I went back to the hotel to rest, to try and kick off my sickness. I popped some pills and went to bed at about 2:00pm. Meanwhile the others were having lunch and organising the boat. They came later to check up on me. I was a bit out of it but they seemed a little buzzed.

Day 3 - 16th Feb

Maggie moved into Amy and Lisa's room that night as I was in quarantine. Yeah baby!!!
I woke feeling much better, just a cough lurching. I went to find the girls to have breaky and they were a little hung!! Yes they had partied without me! They went to some bar in town called the Pirate Bar, (sounds classy huh). Booty was shaken and a good time was had. (I wish I could have been there). After breaky we rounded every one up to go to the airport so we could fly to the boat. We were pretty keen to get out of dust bowl Ville! We had a slight delay we couldn't find Horny and VK. A mad scramble into town to look for them. We found them at the internet place and jammed to the airport to catch our charter plane to the island that the boat was anchored. SMACK airways all over again! The plane was almost identical to the planes you catch in Indo except the pilots weren't smoking gudangs. Surprisingly it wasn't too scary. We landed safely after about 50 mins. Waiting for us on the other side was the one and only GRUBBY!! Best chef and cool cat Mick! He had 2 cars lined up with a class board straps. Not!! Totally!! Exciting ride to the boat. The boards diced with death on 2 occasions. The first was Gary Elkerton "never surrender" model was thrown from the blessed transport. A passing by schoolteacher ran that board into two pieces. Very sad but funny at the same time. We finally reached the boat after an extended 2-½ hour drive!!!

17th Feb - Day four

Got some waves at a mooring point 1km from the boat. 3ft peak. Left and right. Went to the fish markets and the general street market. People screaming as they carved cow meat. Drove this afternoon towards another wave. Found no waves but a really calm mooring position miles from anywhere.

18th Feb - Day five

Headed towards original spot. Got back they're to surf 4ft right barrelling on the inside. Couple of nice waves! Surfed the arvo also and had some nice waves.

We shifted spots about 1-¼ hours away in hope of finding a better wave. No such luck!! Beer-a-clock! We anchored for the night. Bootie was shaken!!!

19th Feb - Day six

Eggs for breaky as we headed back to original spot (EGGIE). On the way we found another right-hander. Kinda windy but we gave it a burl anyway. Pretty funny session!! A couple of lobsters were spotted; Lisa spotted the biggest one, closely followed by VK. Sofi and myself. It was a bit of burger wave but a fun session. Had an evening sess at original spot and then decided tomorrow we would go for a drive about 10 hours away to some beaches with beautiful water.

20th Feb - Day seven

Sofi, Nick and I had a quick surf in the morning and then we started motoring to our new destination. I fell asleep in the sun and woke up a little bronzed!!
About 6 hours on we pulled up for the night.

21st Feb - Day eight

Did absolutely nothing all day. We had to wait for the new Indo crew to arrive so we stayed anchored at the same place. Bronzed, watched DVDs and got harassed by the immigration officers. Captain realised Sofi and my visas were only for 7 days so they had to be renewed, (woops). Basically a Lay Day!!

22nd Feb - Day 9

2 choices.
No 1. Motor to an Island to try and surf for a day and then fly out from that island.
No 2. Motor 24 hours back to the mainland in hope of scoring a small swell that was on its way! We all decided if there was any chance of getting waves we should head towards the swell.
Bring out the 1 Pods. Bring on the DVDs! A pretty rocky ride. But it was all part of the Crossing experience. Jock (Capt) jumped off the boat half way through the journey to see if he could score some fish. No such luck! VK almost caught a fish, which was pretty exciting; it was the bite of the trip. She was reeling it and about 4ft from the boat is got away. We were devastated!!!

It just wasn't right!!! Honestly!! Okay starting to tweak out…… a bit of an afternoon nap in need! Woke in the arvo, still 'a' rockin! We ate some more and then introduced the boys to Sex In The City. Pretty funny they are quite in awe! Jock and I brought out the Backgammon board and we started playing our 1st of three games, acey doocey. Oh, it's on!! Beginners luck! Just piped him by one man. Well an exhausting day not!! Retired to bed with hope of waking to surf waves.

23rd Feb - Day 10

Windy, windy, windy! Early morning glass off! Hahaha Yeah right!!! There was a local contest being held at the surf break we wanted to surf at so we headed to the spot that we surfed the very first day we arrived. Brrrrrrr!!!!!
Wetsuits on and into the tinny. Anything was worth a try at this point. The sun came out and as the day went on we were all giggling and having fun. The waves may not have been epic but when you're in the company of these people it's impossible not to have fun! Lisa cracking one-liners left, right and centre, everyone just laughing at each other as soon as someone opens their mouth. On the way into the boat for lunch break, Jocko attempted to tow me into a set wave, but it was just a bit fat and couldn't quite get onto it.
Second sess! A couple of bigger sets coming through, taking off on closeout sets just for laughs. Jock towed me into a set wave. Yippee my first ever tow-in!!! (Even though it was with the tinny). Well we didn't score but it was good to get in the water and have a laugh. Headed back around the corner to drop the anchor for the night. The wave where the camp was at looked good and had apparently been fun all day so we planned to surf there first thing tomorrow.

Day 11 - 24th Feb

Windier than yesterday! I almost wish I were a windsurfer (Yeah right)!! The spot didn't quite look the same as it did yesterday but it was breaking (just) he he. I love the tinny rides over to the surf break. Everyone joking around stomach muscles sore from laughing so much!
Oh Golly, his session was all time ha ha BORG. Onshore 2ft breaking about 2 metres from rocks, 10 mins later back to the boat!!! It was so good that as we got out about 5 windsurfers went out. He he you just have to laugh about it reeaaallly. Went to check yesterday's spot. Not breaking. Jock new of a spot a little way along so we headed for it. Acey Doocey, game number 2! Doh! Even Steven, 1 game each. The final champion would be decided at a later date.
We were starting to tweak out a little. We even tried lying out but we were scared of catching a cold! Sofi and I were contemplating on trying to surf the left we pulled up to. Jock took us over to check it and it was pretty similar to the right that we had just surfed. We though Maybe later!! Pretty much for the next 2 or 3 hours we all sat around the wheel house laughing at each other loosing our minds, staring into space then laughing about it (no we weren't stoned) Sofi and I couldn't take it any longer. We suited up and started making our way over to the left. If anything we would get some exercise from the 10min paddle. SCORE!!!!!!

At first we weren't that excited. The wave was a bit bumpy and you could only really do one turn before kicking out over dry rocks. About 15mins on the swell picked up and it started breaking further out. There were some decent 4 ft waves coming through. For the next 3 hours Sofi and I caught wave after wave hooting each other on, we couldn't believe how good it got! Sofi caught probably the biggest wave of the trip. I got a sneaky barrel and the best thing was we never expected to even do a turn at all! That's what is insane about these trips, you can paddle out at a wave not knowing what to expect and end up having a surf that you'll never forget. We decided to call this break "Potential". On the right direction with no wind (if that's possible) it could be a sick little wave.

Day 12 - Feb 25th

Mickos awesome poached eggs for breaky (I don't think I will be able to eat poached eggs for a while after this trip). No waves, too small, too windy. Yucky overcast weather. Our first cloudy day so far! We packed our bags and headed for land to look around and ummmm yeah sit at restaurants on the beach and drink lemonade mmmmmm. We hired one car that all the girls piled into and Jock was our driver.
Our first tourist attraction was a big black bleeeeeeeeppp!!!. Next stop shell service station for bubble gum, Red Bulls, chocolate and real bottled water. Major sugar buzz!! VK was on fire! Lisa was almost wetting her pants from the calls VK was making. It was pretty hilarious, definitely a road trip to remember. We ate lunch at a restaurant by a pretty beach in the middle of town. We moved onto a cool little restaurant that was half surrounded by the ocean. Everyone was relaxed just talking. Back to the boat to wash off the dirt from town (literally wash off the dirt) and get ready to go to the airport. Sitting in the kitchen Sofi and I once again were tweaking out came up with a song about our trip. I was playing acoustic guitar and we were both on vocals. The lyrics to this song are confidential of course. "Lets just say you had to be there!!"

I think that sums up our trip!!!
