August 1999 French Polynesia
Tow-in Trip

In August 1999, Quiksilver sent its big wave riders to French Polynesia with the aim of scoring some monsters. Unfortunately the predicted swell never arrived. That didn't deter Kelly Slater, Tom Carroll, Dave Kalama and Peter Mel from using the jetskis to push the limits of small wave aerial surfing.

Small Thomas got far too many waves... and rode them all to their miserable graves.

Slater relaxed in the air.
