In February, 2000,
Kelly Slater and his brothers Sean and
Stephen, plus Shane Dorian, Ben
Bourgeois and Fred Patacchia flew to the
Crossing for a predicted swell in the
six-foot range that would last
approximately a week. A shallow but very
hollow righthander was discovered, with
a left just across the channel. The
swell arrived perfectly on time and some
epic barrels were scored (with Shane
Dorian scoring the longest at 11
seconds).
