The boys
are straight into it!

7 December log
First stop was the airport where we
picked up our two new passengers. AJ and
Greg Capitelli were the winners of a
competition in Surfing magazine, and
with the prize of a ten day trip on the
Quiksilver Crossing, they are quite
simply the happiest guys on earth to set
foot on the Trader at long last.
Walking round the boat in awe, having
read so much about this special vessel
and her fairytale global surf adventure,
the boys were smiling and giggling to
themselves like kids on Christmas
morning first sighting their loot under
the tree.

Our passengers come from Charleston, SC, USA. The two brothers
had the luck to win a trip on the Crossing. We are more than glad to have
them aboard. In dinner conversations they described to us
how they were excited to get onto a reef break since all they have at home are beach
breaks
11 December
We heaved anchor and sailed a few
hours to this a break that was
more exposed to the remnants of
the swell. After getting a hit
from a barracuda, we arrived to a
right that was peeling head the
shoulder high. The boys were
amazed at the sight of a good ride
without a soul in the water. Greg
showed his grit on the big sets
and took charge on the wave. AJ
followed suit to show his big
brother that he was not about to
be out done. This tag team duo had
to be literally dragged out of the
water because they had surfed so
much and so hard that they were
left with nothing in the fuel
cells. The night overcame us as we
motored a short distance to a
calmer anchorage of this Caribbean
paradise that we had to ourselves.
