In June 2001 Kelly Slater invited Tom Carroll, Peter Mel, Dave Kalama, Ross Clarke-Jones and young guns Dylan Graves and Rye Craike to board the Crossing for a two-week trip dubbed "Outside the Boundaries". This trip was broadcast live to the world via the Internet.
